Comparison

TruckerPro TMS vs Tailwind TMS

Both target smaller carriers. They charge on different axes, and that difference decides which is cheaper long before any feature does.

Key takeaways:
  • Tailwind’s published model is per user per month, with monthly load caps on the lower tiers.
  • Per-user pricing plus load caps means cost steps up on two independent axes as you grow.
  • TruckerPro does not publish pricing; get a quote at your projected size, not today’s.
Which TruckerPro is this? TruckerPro TMS is a working transportation management system for Canadian carriers, in production at truckerpro.ca. TruckerPro GPS — the hardware pilot this site is about — is a separate, unlaunched evaluation. The status notice at the top of this page refers to the GPS hardware only. It does not describe the TMS.
Disclosure and sourcing: published by TruckerPro. Tailwind's own website did not return a valid certificate when checked on 28 August 2026, so the pricing below is reproduced from third-party software directories rather than the vendor, and may be out of date or wrong. Confirm every figure with Tailwind before relying on it.

Do the arithmetic on your own shape

Per-user pricing is genuinely good value for a fleet with one or two dispatchers and a lot of trucks. It gets expensive when the people who need access multiply — a safety manager, a billing clerk, a part-time night dispatcher, an owner who wants to look at margin on a Sunday.

Work out your login count honestly, including the people you would want to give access to if it were free. Then add the tier step you will hit when load volume grows. That total is the comparison, not the headline rate.

What to verify beyond price

  • Whether provincial tax, IFTA by jurisdiction, and NSC driver records are handled or worked around.
  • Whether owner-operator settlement with deductions is native or a spreadsheet.
  • What the telematics integration actually consists of at your tier.
  • What export you get if you leave, and in what format.

Questions

How much does Tailwind TMS cost?

Third-party software directories listed three tiers in August 2026 — roughly US$99, $149, and $199 per user per month, with monthly load caps of 25 and 50 on the lower two and unlimited on the top tier. Tailwind’s own site was unreachable for verification on 28 August 2026, so treat these figures as indicative and confirm with the vendor.

Why do load caps matter?

A cap converts a good month into a forced upgrade. If you run 22 loads a month on a 25-load tier, one busy quarter changes your bill, and the increase applies per user.

Which is cheaper?

It depends entirely on your shape. Many trucks and few logins favours per-user pricing; a fleet where dispatch, safety, and accounting all need access does not. Model both at your projected size.

Is TruckerPro TMS available today?

Yes. TruckerPro TMS is a live product for Canadian carriers at truckerpro.ca. The private-pilot notice on this site refers to TruckerPro GPS hardware, which is a separate and unlaunched project.
