GPS fleet tracking
GPS fleet tracking means recording where authorized vehicles or assets were when their devices last reported, then using that history to run the fleet.
Definition
GPS fleet tracking is the operational use of Global Positioning System (and usually other GNSS) data to monitor authorized vehicles, trailers, or equipment. A device estimates a coordinate; a modem sends it; software stores and displays it.
What it is not
It is not automatically Hours-of-Service compliance, navigation for the driver, or a live emergency service. Those require other certified products and processes.
