Geofence
Geofence (noun): a named map boundary that tracking software uses as a trigger.
Definition
A geofence is a boundary, stored as a radius around a point or as a polygon, that marks a place such as a yard, a customer dock, or a jobsite. It is not a physical fence and not a satellite feature.
Terms used with it
- Enter / exit: the event logged when an asset is first seen on the other side of the boundary.
- Dwell: time spent inside between an enter and an exit.
- Zone: the word some hardware and software menus use for the same idea.
